Solo Piping Recital by Willie McCallum

An evening of piping by Willie McCallum from Bearsden, Scotland, one of the world's leaders in competitive piping. Among other great achievements, Willie has qualified for the Glenfiddich Championship 25 times in a row, and has won it eight times.

The recital was a benefit for the Nicol-Brown Amateur Invitational Competition, and a welcoming reception for the competitors.

2012 Results

Ten of the finest Amateur pipers from across North America were selected to play in an elite invitational contest with three events: 6/8 Marches, Piobaireachd and MSR. The contest is dedicated annually to the memory of Robert U. Brown and Robert B. Nicol.

Willie McCallum from Glasgow, Scotland; Nancy Tunnicliffe from Lanesboro, Massachusetts; and Paula Glendinning from Ashton, Maryland judged the 2012 contests.

Nicol-Brown competitors were given the privilege of receiving instruction from the judges with the aim of improving their performances toward the professional level. Pipers at all levels were encouraged to observe the master class. Topics included musical expression, technique, and improving musicianship. Please register if you’d like to sit in on this class next year.
